Every year some 40,000 visitors and locals decide to launch lycopene laden fruit (otherwise known as tomatoes) at each other for the heck of it. The modest population of 9,000 have become famous for their hospitality and high spirits during the festival. Anyone who attends and doesn't enjoy it should be red faced (with embarrassment not tomato juide).
