Undiscovered Gem Of Laos

Set 700 meters above sea level and on the confluence of the Nam Khan and the mighty Mekong River, Luang Prabang is, without doubt, one of the most beautiful cities in South East Asia. With a mere 60,000 people calling it home, you could be fooled into thinking there’s not much to see—you’d be wrong.

A great base for exploring Laos’s dramatic countryside, Luang Prabang is well and truly on the backpacking trail. But with a multitude of accommodation options for every budget, there’s something to please everyone. Somehow, despite the thriving tourist trade, the city clings on to its calm way of life and local flavour. Expect a heady mix of world-class comfort and spiritual nourishment.

Faq?

Although Laos’s official currency is the Kip, US Dollars are widely accepted. We recommend having a combination of both.

If you’re coming from the UK, you can apply for a Laotian visa at the border. You’ll need $35 in cash and two recent passport photographs. Holders of other passports should check as it may be necessary to apply for a visa before arrival.

Luang Prabang is a safe and peaceful city. But, as when you’re travelling anywhere, make sure you look after your valuables and use the safe in your room if you have one.

In comparison to other countries in the region, Luang Prabang is pretty expensive. But considering how beautiful the place is, we think it’s well worth visiting. If you’re looking to cut costs, then pick your accommodation carefully and eat at the market.
