We'll meet in Penzance, and after a short briefing and bike checks, will set off on a 10-mile warm-up ride to Land's End. We'll enjoy the picturesque Cornish scenery along the way, before arriving at the hotel to rest, ready for an early start the next day.
Starting our journey at the southernmost tip of the British mainland, we will head north to the pretty seaside town of Bude. We'll enjoy stunning coastal and countryside views along the way, arriving in Bude in the late afternoon.
From Bude we'll head East along Route 3 of the National Cycle Network, passing through scenic Devon countryside before arriving at our hotel in the picturesque Mendip Hills, (a designated area of Oustanding Natural Beauty).
Heading north, we'll pass Bristol, and cross the Severn Bridge into Wales. We'll follow the River Wye, through the Wye Valley (an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), enjoying picturesque, lush, scenery as we head north through the historic city of Hereford, to our destination, the Shropshire town of Ludlow.
We'll depart Ludlow and head north along Route 45 of the National Cycle Network, passing through the beautiful Shropshire Hills (another AONB), and several historic market towns, before reaching our destination on the outskirts of Greater Manchester.
Departing Leigh, we'll head west along the A65, passing through Lancashire countryside, and into Yorkshire. Heading north, we'll enjoy stunning views of the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland (AONB), before entering the Lake District, where we'll make the challenging ascent up the Kirkstone Pass, taking in breathtaking views, and then ascend to the charming village of Glenridding on the banks of lake Ullswater, to rest for the night.
We'll depart Glenridding, and enjoy some stunning morning views as we follow the shore of Ullswater for 6 miles. Heading north, we'll pass Carlisle, and cross the Scottish border at Gretna, continuing through the beautiful wild landscapes of Dumfries and Galloway, into South Lanarkshire and our destination for the night, the village of Douglas.
From Douglas we'll head North on the Route 7 of the National Cycle Network, passing through the outskirts of Glasgow and Stirling, into Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. The meeting point of the highlands and lowlands, the area is home to all manner of picturesque scenery, from numerous lochs (including Loch Lomond, the largest in the country and the park's eponym), to soaring peaks, rolling hills, and scenic forests, and we'll enjoy some spectacular views before reaching our destination, the small hamlet of Ardchyle.
Day 8, is packed with all manner of breathtaking views! Heading west from Ardchyle, through dramatic Western Highland landscapes, we'll cross the narrow straight between Loch Leven and Loch Linnhe using Ballachulish Bridge.
From there it's north along the banks of Loch Linnhe where we'll enjoy stunning views of Ben Nevis, cut through Fort William, past two more lochs, before reaching our destination, Fort Augustus, a charming highland village perched on the edge of Loch Ness.
From Fort Augustus, we'll head north, following the Loch, and its subsidiary, the River Ness, to Inverness. We'll pass through the heart of the city, and enjoy spectacular views over the neighbouring firths of Beauly and Moray from Kessock Bridge, before continuing north all the way to Loch Shin, where we'll stop in the village of Lairg and rest for the night, ready for our final day of riding.
