This floating, rotating hotel in Qatar will generate its own electricity!
Due to the climate emergency, sustainability has come to the forefront of contemporary design, and one Turkish-based studio is taking it to the next level with designs for a hotel in Qatar that will generate its own electricity!
The aptly-named Qatar Eco-Floating Hotel will feature a circular-shaped design, fringed by a series of propellers and thrusters (below the waterline), that will act like a hydro generator, rotating to convert the energy of flowing water into electricity
What's more, it will feature 55 vertical wind turbines that will double as sun umbrellas for guests; a unique, vortex-inspired roof that will collect rainwater, and a system for transforming food waste into natural fertiliser for the extensive on-site gardens.
It certainly won't compromise on luxury either! The striking structure will house a giant glass atrium; 152 guest suites with private balconies, and an array of amenities, including, an infinity pool, a rooftop bar, a beach club and a mini-golf course.
Set for completion in 2025, it will be the first floating eco-hotel in Qatar, though Hayri Atak Architectural Design Studio, the studio behind the project, has said that it will have the ability to be moved anywhere thanks to its unique mobile design!
