A Bustling Hub Of Life And Advertisement

Full of shows, restaurants and shops, Times Square is the bustling centre of New York City. Situated in midtown Manhattan, Times Square is a major commercial intersection and entertainment centre. Bursting with light from TV screens, ads and billboards, the crossroads is lively 24 hours a day.

Formerly called Longacre Square, Times Square got its famous name in 1904 when the New York Times newspaper moved its headquarters there. Interestingly, the square is actually the shape of a bowtie, with two triangles meeting in the middle. There’s plenty to see, do and explore, so make sure it’s on your NYC bucket list.

Why Visit Times Square, New York?

Why

Being such a big and busy place, every inch of Times Square is crammed with things to see and do. Not everything costs money either: there are lots of parks, museums and libraries nearby that are free. The number of taxis allowed to pass through has been reduced, so you can wander around and lose yourself in people-watching without the fear of being run over.

Our Pick

National Geographic Encounter

An underwater digital experience that plunges New York into another world. Travel through the Pacific ocean and see, hear, and feel its greatest wonders – all without getting wet! This virtual water experience is a popular attraction as its photorealistic animation transports you out of the city and into the world of wondrous sea creatures. Something a little different to city life.

Faq?

A great time to visit New York is either in the spring or autumn months as the weather is lovely but the crowds are not overwhelming. If you’re looking for a cheaper time frame, late January and early February are your best bets.

It takes approximately 10-15 minutes to walk around the square at a brisk pace. If you’re sightseeing, shopping, stopping for food, obviously things will take longer. With so much to do, if you want to investigate every corner of what the square has to offer, it’s best to spend most of your day here

As a tourist hotspot, you expect the prices to be high. But there are still some good options if you’re on a budget: from the free parks, street food vendors and high-street shops, you don’t have to spend a fortune if you stay away from the expensive restaurants and boutiques.
