10 Year Old Inverness Girl Climbs All 282 Munros!
Quinn Young, a 10-year-old from Inverness, has achieved an incredible milestone — she’s climbed all 282 of Scotland’s Munros! Quinn started her journey at just four years old with her dad, Ian, and even tackled Ben Nevis shortly before turning five.
“I feel proud of myself, but also a little sad because the adventure with my dad’s kind of finished,” she told BBC Scotland, reflecting on the end of her big challenge.
Munros are the highest mountains in Scotland, each standing over 3,000 feet (914 meters). Quinn wanted to complete her ‘Munro bagging’ before finishing primary school — and she did it!

“It’s a big deal because I’ve been doing it with my dad since I was four,” Quinn said. Despite challenging weather and tough climbs, Quinn never gave up, even on days when she wasn’t sure she could make it.
Quinn carries her own gear, including food, water, and waterproofs, and even fills up her water bottle at streams along the way. Her dad, Ian, is incredibly proud: “The encouragement from others has been amazing, and Quinn never complained — even in the winter.”
Safety was always a priority, and Ian made sure they turned back if needed: “The hills will always be there. We made it an adventure and took it at her pace.”
Quinn’s journey is a perfect example of determination, and she’s now part of the long tradition of Munro baggers, inspired by Sir Hugh Munro, who first listed the 282 peaks back in 1891.
