Easyjet Launches New Route to "Europe's Hawaii'
If you’ve been dreaming of volcanic cliffs, lush green mountains, and subtropical sunshine, your summer just got a major upgrade. easyJet has officially launched a new direct route from London Luton to Funchal, Madeira—making it easier and more affordable than ever to visit the incredible island known as 'Europe’s Hawaii'.
Starting 2 June 2025, easyJet will operate twice-weekly flights on Mondays and Fridays, ideal for a long weekend escape or a full island adventure. One-way fares start from just £38.99, and package holidays with hotel, baggage, and transfers can be snapped up from around £379.
Although several UK airports already offer flights to Madeira, the addition of a Luton route introduces another low-cost option—one that could increase competition and help drive prices down, especially during the busy summer season.

Why Visit Madeira?
Nicknamed the “Hawaii of Europe”, Madeira is a Portuguese island that floats in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Morocco. It's a paradise of rugged volcanic landscapes, cascading waterfalls, terraced vineyards, and colourful villages.
What to Do
- Hit the Levada trails – These centuries-old irrigation channels wind through the island’s lush Laurisilva forest (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), offering peaceful walks and jaw-dropping views.

- Try paragliding – Take to the skies from the cliffs of Prazeres or Arco da Calheta, soaring over vineyards and deep blue sea.
- Soar above Funchal – Take the cable car up to Monte for panoramic city views, then ride a traditional wicker toboggan back down the hill!
- Relax in Porto Moniz – Swim in natural lava pools carved into the coastline—nature’s own infinity pools.
