Thailand is giving away thousands of free flights to travellers
Is Thailand on your Bookitlist? Well, here’s your sign to stop daydreaming and start packing: the Thai government is about to give away thousands of free domestic flights to international visitors this autumn. Yep, free.
Why? To boost tourism during low season and tempt travellers away from the usual haunts (Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket) toward some of the country’s hidden gems. Think sleepy beach towns, lush jungle escapes, and islands you’ve only ever seen in movies.

Here’s how it works: if you’re flying into Thailand between September and November, you could score a free domestic flight worth up to 1,750 baht (£40) for a one-way trip, or 3,500 baht (£80) for a round-trip. All you need is proof of your international flight ticket. (Sorry, boat and bus arrivals don’t count.)

The campaign, cheerily titled ‘Buy International, Free Thailand Domestic Flights’, still needs final cabinet approval, but if it gets the green light, it could be one of the best travel deals of the year. The only downside? If you’ve already booked your Thailand trip, you’re out of luck — this offer’s only valid for new bookings.
Still, for anyone yet to plan their autumn escape, this might just be the nudge you needed. Free flights, fewer crowds, and more budget left over for pad thai, massages, and that island-hopping itinerary you’ve been secretly curating for years
