Updates on UK Hospitality Sector

With lockdown measures easing the hospitality industry in the UK looks to rebound.

Here’s what we can expect in the coming weeks.

In the 50 page document released earlier in May, the Government stated hotels, hostels and campsites would remain closed.

There are a few exceptions but nothing of noteworthy importance to those hoping to travel.

According to the PM, hospitality would be set: “to reopen at least some of the hospitality industry and other public places provided they’re safe and enforce social distancing” in phase three.

This is subject to change as it will only proceed: “if and only if the numbers support it”.

Hospitality is considered to be food service providers, pubs and accommodation.

The 50 page manifesto also notes:

“Some venues which are, by design, crowded and where it may prove difficult to enact distancing may still not be able to re-open safely at this point, or may be able to open safely in part.”

Hospitality Sector Set To Reopen?

Frustrating stories of customers being refused refunds has put some holidaymakers off travelling, understandably so.

Thankfully it seems, if you do have hotel reservations in the UK, you should be eligible to get a full refund or at the bare minimum, reschedule for a later date.

Holiday Inn have created a new policy during the coronavirus, in which bookings made prior to 6th April can be changed or cancelled free of charge for stays up until 30th June.

Similar protocols have been put in place by the Premier Inn, Hilton Hotels and easyHotel.

In short travelling to UK hotels and campsites should be possible during June, but we urge everyone to maintain social distancing if you do decide to make a journey.
