Guide to the host cities of the 2022 Six Nations

The Six Nations Championship, the annual Rugby tournament where Europe's top international teams go head to head for the coveted silver trophy.

Held over five action-packed weekends, in the home stadia of the competing teams, the competition is as exciting as it is fierce, and for Rugby fans, is a highlight of the calendar!

With just over a week to go until the latest edition kicks off, we delve into the magic of the tournament's six host destinations. Read on for our guide to the 2022 Six Nations host cities.

Dublin

The 2022 Six Nations Championship kicks off in the afternoon of Saturday 5th Feb at Dublin's Aviva Stadium, where the hosts will take on reigning champions, Wales. The atmosphere before the inaugural game of the championships is always special, and there is no better setting than the Irish capital, famed for its colourful riverside pubs and warm, and friendly locals. Take in iconic sights such as the Ha’penny Bridge and get in the mood for the big kick-off with a pint of 'proper' Guinness as the excitements crescendos!

Edinburgh

In the second game of the championship, Scotland host bitter rivals England at Edinburgh's 67,000 capacity Murrayfield. Nicknamed 'The Athens of the North', the city boasts UNESCO World Heritage status, thanks to its wealth of historic architecture and landmarks, which most famously includes the magnificent medieval castle that looms over its streets from its rugged hilltop location. There are few better destinations for a city break than Edinburgh, and on a matchday, its spirited atmosphere is even more vivacious, particularly when noisy neighbours England are in town. Settle into one of the many great pubs in and around Prince's Street to soak up the atmosphere, and be sure to visit the stunning castle to explore its ancient passageways and enjoy panoramic views of the city skyline.

Paris

Paris, city of romance, history, and culture, and the location of the 2022 Six Nations' third fixture in which last year's runners up France, host neighbours Italy. As the saying goes, 'Paris is always a good idea', and for rugby fans, there is no better time to experience its captivating allure than a matchday. Soak up the sights and sounds, from icons like the Eiffel Tower, and the Notre Dame Cathedral to museums and galleries such as the Louvre; feast on gastronomic delights in one of the endless restaurants, or riverside brasseries, and after taking in the game, enjoy the city's world-class nightlife!

Cardiff

In no other part of the world are the fans as passionate about rugby as in Wales, winners of last year's championship, they kick off the second round of matches at their state of the art, 74,500-stadium against visitors Scotland. A fun-loving and friendly city with a long and storied history, Cardiff boasts an array of interesting sights and landmarks, including the iconic 2000-year old castle, and an endless array of great pubs and bars to soak up the lively atmosphere!

Rome

One of the most historic cities in Europe, and indeed the world as well, Rome, Italy's captivating capital boast's over 3,000 years worth of art & architecture, encompassing such iconic landmarks as the Pantheon, the Vatican, and of course, the spectacular Colosseum. A slightly more recent edifice, but impressive in its own right, The Stadio Olimpico has hosted some memorable sporting spectacles over the years, and the local rugby fans, not to mention those travelling from abroad, will hope to witness some more during the championships!

London

England suffered a lacklustre tournament in 2021, but their loyal fans will be expecting to see some much-improved performances from the number 3 ranked team in the world this time out. Their mettle will be put firmly to the test when they host champions Wales at London's Twickenham Stadium on Saturday 26th Feb. Fans of either side can expect a spirited atmosphere in the city's pubs during the build-up.
