On Wednesdays and Fridays the museum is open later into the night (9:45pm). These evenings can make for a magical experience at the museum, with minimal crowds and the Grand Pyramid lit up.

One mistake people often make is underestimating how big the Louvre Museum is. It's the largest art museum in the world! Even if you just pick out a few sections you want to see, you'll still need a full day to see the Louvre.

If you want a quick in-and-out Louvre visit, just to see the Mona Lisa, it's best to have a game plan. Make sure you know where it is - on the 1st floor, in the Denon Alley.

Tip: If you get there for opening or on a Wednesday or Friday night, you won’t have to battle through as many people.

Lots of museums stop you from taking photos and videos, but you'll be pleased to hear the Louvre isn't one of them. You can take photos and videos anywhere in the museum apart form the temporary exhibition rooms. You just can't use flash.
