Turkeys currency is has been steady falling and is now making a trip to Turkey even more affordable. The Lira has been generous in conversions for some years but it's now risen to almost 10 lira per pound up from just 6 lira per pound a couple of years ago.

In conjunction with this, tour operators are seeing the Lira's fall as an opportunity to push Turkish holidays more and create additional discounts on flights.


The Turkish government is hoping the lira's slide will rejuvenate tourism enough to avert an economic crisis. Turkey is historically one of Britain's most popular destinations with over 2.4 million Brits travelling to Turkey annually.


According to local media, plans are being draw to allow tourists to be tested for covid in hotels providing they have a "safe tourism certificate". Given the growing desire for a late-Summer vacation, and the ever shortening list of options domestically as airbnb's and hotels rapidly fill.
